Facebook made some pretty excellent changes today. I am impressed and have already dived into the business applications. Facebook in the opinion of some have put businesses at a disadvantage. You could not post on your page as yourself if you are an admin, there was no way of receiving notifications of posts or comments from fans and the level you could interact with otherbusiness pages was very limited.
That has all changed and I can’t wait to see the impacts on this. You can log in and out as yourself and choose to post as one of your pages! In other words if you want to interact on another page you can now post as yourself or as your business page. That is pretty significant for those who want to engage different brands beyond just a personal profile approach.
What is going to be interesting to dig into is the actual wall feed itself. There are now options to have your favorite pages have posts mixed in with your posts. I am not quite sure of the value in this yet. Maybe if you have thoughts on this you could post them below. For those who had built those custom tabs I kind of feel a bit sorry for since those now reside under your profile pic and are just simple small text like we saw the change on our personal profiles.
Make sure you take the tour and follow through on the actual upgrade in order to see these changes on your page. Even though they are sudden and make people like me have to change my training course material all the time, I am certainly not complaining. This is the model I had hoped to see coming. Even though Hyper Alerts recently became a life saver for those of us who so desperately wanted an email notification when someone commented on our posts, Facebook now has their own email notification system. Now we will just have to see which is faster.
This is just another lesson learned that you can’t sit on your hands in this fast paced digital world. Things are changing quickly and it is up to us to keep in tune so that our business model only continues to flourish. What do you think about these changes for Facebook pages? Please feel free to comment below and thanks for being here today!
